Welcome to Northern Water.

We acknowledge the Northern Water Project is located on the traditional lands of the Barngarla and Kokatha peoples and we recognise their continuing connection to land and waters. We pay our respects to the diversity of cultures, significance of contributions and to Elders past, present and emerging.

Northern Water aims to provide a secure, climate resilient water source for industry located in South Australia's Upper Spencer Gulf and Far North. This will enable the growth of industries and key mining resources crucial for contributing to decarbonisation initiatives, sustainability and unlocking long term economic prosperity for South Australia.

The Northern Water Project proposes the construction and operation of a large-scale desalination plant at Mullaquana Station in the Upper Spencer Gulf, along with approximately 400km of transfer pipeline connecting to the Far North. Mullaquana Station is located approximately 20km south of Whyalla.

Commencing construction of Northern Water will rely on gaining Project approvals and agreements.
